Name: Eric Reibe
Age: 19
Birth Date: June 29th, 2006
Height: 7’1”
Weight: 260 lbs
College: University of Connecticut
Class: Freshman
Position: Center
NBA Player Comparison: Kristaps Porzingis / Alperen Sengun
Strengths
Rebounding: High-level rebounder with a natural feel for positioning; boxes out every possession and anticipates misses well.
Finishing Around the Rim: Excellent putback finisher; great touch around the rim; strong left-handed jump hook, reliable floater, and multiple post counters (baseline spin, back-down instincts); draws fouls consistently and embraces physicality.
Footwork & Coordination: Excellent footwork and coordination for his size; good at cutting, diving, and rolling to the basket after screens.
Basketball IQ & Playmaking: Understands spacing, timing, and offensive flow; very good post playmaker; hits cutters, executes dribble-handoff actions, reads double-teams; solid passer from post and elbows with awareness of weak-side rotations.
Leadership & Communication: Communicates well; strong locker-room impact; team-first mentality, winning mindset, and confidence without forcing play.
Defense: Strong pick-and-roll defender; understands angles and drop coverage responsibilities; solid help defender with good instincts and rotations; reliable post defender with active hands and disciplined footwork; closes out well for a 7-footer.
Endurance & Work Ethic: Great endurance and conditioning; can play heavy minutes; works hard, loves developing his game, and extremely coachable.
Weakness:
Ball Handling: Gets the ball poked loose or stripped; needs to improve ball handling for smoother dribble-handoff actions.
Shooting: Below-average free-throw shooter; capable but currently below-average 3-point shooter.
Perimeter Defense: Struggles guarding in space; lateral quickness on the perimeter is below average; needs improved timing on help rotations, especially when contesting drives from the weak side.
Physicality: Already strong but still needs to add more muscle to fully handle NBA physicality.
Injury History:
During his senior season at Bullis School in 2025, Reibe missed “nearly two months” due to an ankle injury.
Extra Notes:
Eric Reibe is a highly skilled, left-handed center who can be utilized as both a traditional big and a stretch five due to his shooting ability. He has a strong post game built on his size, footwork, and finishing touch around the rim. Reibe is also an excellent passer and playmaker. While he is a capable shooter, he still needs to improve his mid-range and three point shot, progress that seems inevitable given his confidence and strong work ethic. Defensively, he is solid, though further development in his perimeter defense will be necessary at the next level. Overall, with an improved jumper and enhanced perimeter defense, he has the potential to develop into a Kristaps Porziņģis or Alperen Şengün type player with high upside.
